International Symposia on Grape Breeding First held in the Geilweilerhof Institute for Grape Breeding in Siebeldingen, Germany in September of 1973; this international meeting has been held on a four year (loosely) rotation ever since. The proceedings are an excellent source for historical information about breeding and research activities, and looking at these documents gives a good impression of the shifting focus of grape breeding/genetics research since 1973. With the 7th symposium, in 1998, the title of the event was changed to the International Symposium on Grapevine Genetics and Breeding; and the sponsorship and proceedings fell under the auspices of the International Society of Horticultural Science. Those proceedings are not found here, as they are still available (not cheap) from the ISHS. The 10th International Symposium on Grapevine Genetics and Breeding will be held in Geneva, New York in August of 2010. Documents are in Adobe PDF format, and require at least Adobe Reader 7.0.
